Christmas Dishes Around the World

When it comes to winter time, it is a must to keep the households full of food. As the holiday season and celebrations continue different types of meals are prepared in all parts of the world to share with the loved ones. Here are few such dishes, and you can even include some to your Christmas menu this year.
 
  • Christmas Fried Chicken
Simple – KFC meal on Christmas Eve. People need to make reservations (sometimes two months in advance) to dine at KFC. It all started thanks to an advertising campaign in 1970s. The KFC bucket at Christmas time also includes a Japanese variation of a Christmas cake. It’s finger lickin’ good!

It will take you at least a week to prepare the meal. Started off as a pagan practice, the meal contains nine dishes. At present, it contains 12 dishes excluding any kinds of meat or dairy. It usually includes, vegetables, bread and fish.
 
  • Latkes
Since the Middle Ages, it has been a significant part of Hanukkah tradition. It’s a dish made of fried potato pancakes which are cooked in oil.
Other dishes enjoyed as a part of the tradition includes food such as fritters, fried donuts, and small chocolate coins are offered to children.
 
  • Panettone
Among various food types included in a Christmas meal, panettone is an important sweet which can be commonly seen. It is prepared using chocolate, crystalized fruit, nuts and raisins.
 
  • Christmas Pudding
In England a widely common tradition is to have a Christmas pudding, also known as plum pudding and figgy pudding. Dried fruits are an essential part of the pudding.
 
  • Christmas Goose
Stuffed goose is part of a Christmas feast in Germany. The oldest recipe dates back to 1350 .  Ingredients such as prunes, apples, chestnuts and spices are used for stuffing. This dish is usually served with dumplings, red cabbage and gravy.
 
  • Bacalao
